Analysis of the consequences of the recent variability in world commodity prices and of effects of a set of policies aimed at counteracting such effects on Developing Countries (Malawi). Identification of the countries on the basis of the available Social Accounting Matrices (SAMs) and their time frame. Re-organization and re-balancing of the SAMs. Calibration of the model on the adjusted SAM. Computation of world price changes. Design of realistic counterfactual policy scenarios with GAMS. Analysis of the results, especially in terms of GDP, output and price changes in different activities, trade, consumption, public finance, investment, factors’ income and household welfare. Discussion of the closure rules. Sensitivity analysis to changes in key parameters.
